Max Verstappen Claims Victory at Imola in Red Bull’s 400th Race

Max Verstappen secured his second victory of the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Marking Red Bull Racing’s 400th race in the sport.

This win also represents Verstappen’s fourth consecutive triumph at Imola, highlighting his strong performance at this circuit.

Max Verstappen secured his second win of the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, marking Red Bull Racing’s 400th race start in the sport. It was also his fourth straight victory at the historic Imola circuit, reinforcing his dominance at this venue. 

Verstappen started from the front row and immediately overtook pole-sitter Oscar Piastri at Turn 1. He led every lap of the race and crossed the finish line 4.2 seconds ahead of Lando Norris. Verstappen clocked the fastest lap of the day on Lap 36 with a time of 1:16.872, underlining the strength of his pace from start to finish.

McLaren Duo Completes the Podium

McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished second and third, respectively. Norris managed to overtake Piastri in the final laps, showcasing strategic driving and tire management. Despite starting from pole position, Piastri couldn’t maintain his lead but still secured a podium finish, keeping him at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings with 146 points.

Hamilton’s Notable Performance for Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton achieved his best result since joining Ferrari, finishing fourth after starting from 12th position. His performance indicates a positive trajectory for Ferrari, especially at their home race in Italy. Hamilton’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, finished sixth, contributing valuable points to the team’s standings.

Albon Shines for Williams

Alexander Albon delivered an impressive performance for Williams, finishing fifth. His result demonstrates the potential of the Williams team and Albon’s skill in capitalising on race opportunities.

Championship Standings Update

In the Drivers’ Championship, Oscar Piastri leads with 146 points. Followed by Lando Norris with 133 points and Max Verstappen with 124 points. The Constructors’ Championship sees McLaren-Mercedes at the top with 279 points, ahead of Mercedes with 147 points and Red Bull Racing-Honda RBPT with 131 points.

Looking Ahead to Monaco

The next race on the Formula 1 calendar is the Monaco Grand Prix, where the battle for the championship is expected to intensify. Teams and drivers will aim to build on their performances from Imola as they navigate the challenging street circuit of Monte Carlo.
