Manchester United Reportedly Land Mbeumo In Lucrative Deal

Manchester United secure Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for £65m plus add-ons, enhancing their attack ahead of the new season.

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo for an initial £65 million, with up to £6 million in add-ons, potentially rising to £71 million.

This agreement follows multiple offers, including a rejected £62.5 million bid plus add-ons. United structured the fee in four instalments and aims to complete the deal before their pre-season tour starts.

Why Bryan Mbeumo?

Mbeumo impressed last season with 20 Premier League goals and seven assists, prompting United to intensify their pursuit. Sky Sports data highlights his elite physical output: top sprint distance and a 36.6 km/h peak speed, complementing his creative influence with over 200 crosses.

Manager Ruben Amorim will deploy Mbeumo in a 3 4–3 formation, likely operating from a No. 10 role alongside Matheus Cunha, aiming to reduce the load on Bruno Fernandes.

If the deal concludes smoothly, United fans expect this high-profile acquisition to inject much-needed pace and creativity into Old Trafford’s underperforming frontline.

Medical, Shirt Number And Tour Integration

As per The Athletic, Mbeumo will complete his medical this weekend, ahead of inclusion in the USA pre-season tour starting on 22 July in Chicago.

The report suggests he has agreed a five-year contract with an option for another year, earning approximately £150,000 per week. He may choose shirt number 19, a permanent option at Old Trafford; he has worn it at Brentford and internationally.

Strategically Refreshing The Squad

Mbeumo becomes the club’s third major signing this summer, following Cunha (£62.5 million) and Paraguayan full-back Diego León. United (3.25) hope these additions will revitalise a goal-shy side that scored only 44 league goals last season, their worst total since 1974.

Adding depth and pace to their attack aligns with Amorim’s mandate to strengthen forward options before the Premier League opener vs Arsenal (2.15).

After finalising Mbeumo’s transfer, United aim to sign a proven striker. Linked targets include Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško.

They are also exploring goalkeeper options, reportedly targeting Senne Lammens from Antwerp as a replacement for André Onana.

Amorim Cleaning House At Old Trafford

United plans to offload several fringe players to balance the books after heavy summer spending.

Stars like Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Onana, and Tyrell Malacia face departures, which could free up space for Mbeumo and Cunha.
