Format Changes
The NBA announced a new four-team tournament format on 17 December 2024. This approach is inspired by recent NHL All-Star Games and the Rising Stars Challenge. Each team will have eight players, and four games will be played—two semi-finals and a championship.
Previously, the All-Star Game featured two teams. However, the NBA experimented with different formats for the selection of those two teams. However, it was a one-off game whereas it is now an exhibition tournament.
Team Selection
Three teams will be drafted from 24 All-Stars by TNT analysts. Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith will serve as honorary general managers. As a result, their teams will be named Team Chuck, Team Shaq, and Team Kenny.

Coaching Assignments
Head coaches will come from the teams with the best regular-season records by February 2, 2025. Currently, the NBA team with the best record is the Cleveland Cavaliers (13.18). Game Structure
Each game in the tournament will end when a team reaches 40 points. This high-scoring target ensures fast-paced and engaging matches. Even in the semi-finals and final, the tournament will maintain this format.
