Arsenal will host Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 2 February. Both teams are seeking to build steam and this is an important fixture in the UEFA Champions League qualification race.
The last time the teams faced off in September, it looked likely to be a pivotal moment in the Premier League title race. Since then, Liverpool has opened up a healthy gap at the top of the table largely as a result of City and Arsenal’s mistakes.
The Gunners and the Citizens have found some degree of form again and can each ill afford any further slip-ups. With both teams having played 23 games, Arsenal are second with 47 points and City fourth with 41. Liverpool have 53 after 22 games.
Arsenal have won two and drawn one of their last three Premier League games, beating Tottenham and Wolves and sharing the spoils with Aston Villa. City, meanwhile, have only dropped two points in the Premier League since the turn of the year despite their inconsistent form in Europe. A 3-1 win over Chelsea in their last Premier League game was a major statement of intent.
Arsenal vs. Manchester City Odds & Head-To-Head
Arsenal (2.09) are favourites on Easybet to win against Manchester City (3.35) with the difference between the two as far as the odds go largely accounted for by the Gunners’ home advantage. The last two clashes between the two sides have ended in draws, but their previous clash at the Emirates in October 2023 resulted in a 1-0 Arsenal win.
The last time the teams met was a particularly entertaining encounter which saw John Stones score in the 98th minute to equalise at 2-2 against the 10-man Gunners at the Etihad Stadium. This time at the Emirates, a draw (3.65) is once again an option worth considering for punters.
Will Erling Haaland find the net?
Erling Haaland is a player worth watching in the anytime goalscorer market. Haaland has scored three times against Arsenal in seven appearances but he found the net the last time the two teams played.
Furthermore, he is in the race for the Golden Boot against Mo Salah and coming off the back of a goal against Chelsea. It is thus safe to say that Haaland is an in-form player and he recently signed a contract which will keep him at Manchester City until 2034.
The Norwegian striker is playing free of the stress of working out his next career move and safe in the knowledge that City want to build a team around him. As far as clawing their way back this season starts, this is a perfect time to start.
